In Bishkek, 83 baths and saunas inspected over two days

On 2–3 December 2025, the municipal inspectorate of the Bishkek City Hall conducted spot checks of 83 baths and saunas to prevent the use of prohibited types of fuel. Inspectors found that 49 facilities were still operating on solid fuel, eight had switched to gas or electric heating, and the rest were temporarily closed.

A violation was also found in a private bathhouse at 134 Orozov Street, where fine coal was being used, even though City Hall Resolution No. 290 of 9 October 2025 prohibits the use of loose coal. A report was drawn up against the owner under Part 1 of Article 434 of the Code of Offences, and explanatory measures were also taken.

The inspectorate reminds citizens that environmental requirements are not just for show. Burning waste oil, rubbish, toxic substances, leaves, fabric products, plastic, rubber and car tyres is prohibited by public order regulations. The authorities are calling for a switch to more environmentally friendly fuels, including gas heating.
