07/29/2026, 11:03The Kyrgyz Military Prosecutor’s Office has detained two officials from the Bishkek branch of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM). They are suspected of systematically extorting and accepting bribes from representatives of project organisations.
According to the Military Prosecutor’s Office, an investigation into a criminal case of corruption has established that officials from the capital’s Emergency Situations Ministry office systematically demanded money in exchange for favourable consideration of project documentation and the preparation of expert reports.
Investigators believe that the amount of the illegal payments ranged from 8,000 to 50,000 KGS. The sum depended on the nature of the identified violations and the complexity of the matter under consideration.
As a result of a joint operation by the Military Prosecutor’s Office and the State Committee for National Security, one of the heads of the Bishkek branch of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, identified by the initials M.I., and senior inspector A.M. were detained. The suspects have been placed in a temporary detention centre.
Investigative proceedings are currently ongoing.
