07/30/2025, 10:36As part of the reforms carried out by the Ministry of Energy, a branch of OJSC ‘NESK’ — the Issyk-Kul Electric Grid Company — has implemented a number of important technical measures aimed at improving the reliability and stability of the region's power supply.
In particular, new high-power transformers have been installed at the 35/10 kV substations Yuzhnaya-1, Saruu and Ken-Suu, increasing the total capacity of the substations by 13.5 MVA. This will enable the substations to cope effectively with growing loads and provide consumers with uninterrupted power supply.
The substation service of the Issyk-Kul Power Grid operates 61 substations with voltages ranging from 35 to 220 kV throughout the region. Since the beginning of 2025, 1,029 pieces of electrical equipment have been serviced and 104 pieces of electrical equipment have undergone major repairs.
In addition, at the 35/10 kV Achikeev substation, obsolete oil circuit breakers manufactured in 1989 have been replaced with modern vacuum circuit breakers. The new equipment is designed to switch electrical circuits under load and is equipped with an automatic shut-off function in the event of a short circuit.
The implementation of the repair programme within the established time frame is aimed at ensuring the successful passage of the autumn-winter period and the reliable and stable supply of electricity to consumers in the region.
