02/03/2026, 15:27A meeting between the Deputy Minister of Natural Resources of Kyrgyzstan and a mission from the United Nations International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) was held in Bishkek.
Deputy Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic Almaz Musaev held a meeting with the IFAD mission, led by Country Director Laura Mattioli.
The key topic of the meeting was the discussion of joint preparation of a concept note for the Adaptation Fund on the project ‘ALATOO – Adaptive Landscapes and Agro-Pastoral Transformations for New Opportunities and Sustainable Results’.
The project focuses on grassland and forest ecosystems and involves an integrated approach to natural resource management. A separate emphasis is planned on the sustainable development and conservation of national parks.
Almaz Musaev informed IFAD representatives about the ministry's current work on biodiversity conservation, as well as existing and draft strategic documents in the field of environmental protection.
The parties also discussed the practical aspects of implementing a project with an estimated cost of $10 million aimed at developing adaptive landscapes, agro-pastoral transformations and the formation of sustainable environmental solutions.
