11/17/2025, 10:33According to the results of January–October, Kyrgyzstan recorded a significant decrease in gross agricultural production. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the total volume of production amounted to 745,100 tonnes. This is 503,300 tonnes less than in the same period last year.
The decline reached 40%.
The decline affected most key crops. Thus, the production of major crops decreased as follows:
The gross grain harvest amounted to 274,100 tonnes, of which wheat accounted for 252,300 tonnes. Potatoes accounted for 101,900 tonnes, vegetables for 208,600 tonnes, fodder crops for 133,300 tonnes, and oilseeds for 27,200 tonnes.
Adverse weather conditions were the key factor in the decline in crop yields. From May to July, there was a significant shortage of rainfall in agricultural regions, and air temperatures rose to 37-39.5 °C. Soil temperatures reached 65-69.6 °C, exceeding 40 °C for 7-10 days, which is critical for most crops.
Localised showers and hail in mid-summer caused additional damage.
In August and October, weather conditions improved, allowing harvesting to begin 7–10 days earlier than usual. Early and uniform ripening resulted in higher wheat quality, including improved gluten content.
