Kyrgyzstan has ended the moratorium on business inspections

Starting from 1 January 2025, inspections of business entities are again allowed in Kyrgyzstan. This is due to the end of the moratorium imposed by the Decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic dated 9 January 2024. The restrictions were in effect until 31 December 2024 and were aimed at stabilising economic activity and creating a favourable business environment.

Initially, a moratorium on business inspections was introduced in 2023, after which it was extended several times. It prohibited inspections by law enforcement and authorised bodies, except in cases related to violations of legislation. Also, the restrictions did not apply to tax and customs inspections, food safety inspections and the activities of the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic within the framework of banking legislation.

The end of the moratorium was fixed by the decree of the head of state dated 17 February 2025. The document does not introduce new restrictions, but only cancels the effect of the previous normative legal act.

The moratorium helped to attract investment and reduce administrative pressure on business. However, entrepreneurs must now be prepared for the resumption of scheduled inspections by state authorities.
