01/21/2026, 17:52The State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic, together with the Southern Territorial Administration of the Financial Supervision Service and the State Tax Service, has launched inspections of pawnshops operating in the city of Osh and Osh Region.
The inspections revealed that interest rates had been set higher than those established by the legislation of the republic, for which administrative penalties were imposed on the authorised bodies.
In addition, more than 30 pawnshops were sealed and appropriate inspections were scheduled, the results of which will be subject to legal assessment.
The State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic is currently conducting operational and investigative measures to identify persons engaged in usury activities who provide funds to the population on deliberately unfeasible terms and convert pledged property to their own benefit, thereby deriving particularly large amounts of income.
