The capital city inspected how environmental safety is ensured at a gold tailings dump

Today, 15 August 2025, Bishkek Mayor Aibek Junushaliyev inspected ash dump No. 9, where the limited liability company ZENIT is engaged in ash removal.

The head of the capital familiarised himself with the work and operation of the ash dump maps and gave a number of instructions to the company, including ensuring regular watering of roads so that vehicles involved in ash transportation do not raise dust. The task of installing equipment for washing the wheels of trucks was also set.

In addition, the mayor instructed to check compliance with the protection zones of ash and slag pipelines and ash dumps by organisations located near the map.

The city hall notes that the ash dump maps are intended for the storage of ash and slag formed after the combustion of coal in the boiler units of the boiler shop.

Ash and slag slurry from the Bishkek thermal power plant is transported through six ash and slag pipelines and discharged into ash dump maps, after which the water is purified through a drainage system and discharged into the BCHK. The total area of the ash dump is approximately 180 hectares.
