12/21/2025, 09:00Hungary has announced its readiness to increase the capital of the Hungarian-Kyrgyz Development Fund to $45 million to support Hungarian companies operating in Kyrgyzstan. This was announced by Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó at a meeting with First Deputy Prime Minister Daniyar Amangeldiev during the Kyrgyz delegation's working visit to Hungary.
During the talks, the parties summed up the results of the Kyrgyz-Hungarian strategic partnership for 2025 and confirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation in 2026. It was noted that cooperation this year has been constructive, including high-level contacts and meetings of bilateral coordination bodies.
The parties paid special attention to the activities of the Hungarian-Kyrgyz Development Fund, which was named one of the key instruments for the implementation of joint projects in various sectors of the economy. According to Péter Szijjártó, the recapitalization of the fund to $45 million will strengthen support for Hungarian business in Kyrgyzstan and expand the portfolio of joint initiatives.
The development of cultural and humanitarian cooperation was also noted, with up to 200 students from Kyrgyzstan continuing to receive education at Hungarian universities under the Stipendium Hungaricum program each year.
The talks also covered cooperation with the European Union, including the sanctions agenda. The parties confirmed the common position of Kyrgyzstan and Hungary on the need for a peaceful settlement of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict and their readiness to continue dialogue with EU member states on relevant issues.
