The authorities will draw up new measures to reduce poverty and create jobs

A draft Plan for Poverty Reduction and Employment Promotion up to 2030 was discussed in Bishkek. The document provides for the creation of new jobs, support for businesses and the development of employment in the regions.

A round-table meeting of the inter-ministerial working group was held in Bishkek to discuss the draft Plan for Poverty Reduction and Employment Promotion in Kyrgyzstan up to 2030. This was reported by the Ministry of Labour.

As Deputy Minister Mirlan Baygonchokov noted, the document will become one of the key instruments of state policy aimed at raising the standard of living of the population. According to him, poverty reduction must be achieved not only through social support, but also through the creation of high-quality jobs, the development of entrepreneurship and the expansion of economic opportunities for citizens.

According to the National Statistics Committee, by the end of 2025 the poverty rate in Kyrgyzstan had fallen to 24 per cent, which is 1.7 percentage points lower than the previous year.

The priorities of the future programme include boosting employment in the regions, supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, creating new jobs, and improving policies on labour migration and the reintegration of citizens returning to the country.

Following discussion of the proposals put forward by the round-table participants, these will be taken into account when finalising the draft programme, which is scheduled to be implemented by 2030.

An inter-ministerial working group has been set up on the instructions of the Cabinet of Ministers. The Ministry of Labour, the Ministry of Economy and Trade, and the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry are all participating in its work.
