07/09/2025, 16:03The State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic detained a sanitary doctor from the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance Center for the city of Bishkek (SSEC) on suspicion of systematically extorting money from citizens for issuing positive conclusions necessary to obtain permits from the Bishkek City Architecture Department.
According to the agency, the doctor organized a corruption scheme to issue certificates in exchange for bribes. On June 12, during an operation, he received a bribe transferred to an MBank e-wallet. During a personal search, 25,000 KGS were seized from him, and another 55,000 KGS were found in his car — he was unable to explain the origin of these funds. The suspect was placed in the GKNB temporary detention facility in accordance with Article 96 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The investigation is ongoing. Law enforcement agencies are identifying other possible participants in the corruption scheme among CSEC employees. All previously issued permits will be reviewed and revoked if violations are found.
