12/22/2025, 09:28This year, Kyrgyz citizens actively sent money abroad. According to the National Bank, from January to October, the outflow of funds from individuals remained stable at a high level and exceeded $40 million in some months.
The highest figure was recorded in August, when $45.3 million was transferred abroad. In September, the outflow decreased to $33.3 million, and in October it amounted to $32.5 million, but overall volumes remain higher than at the beginning of the year.
Most of the transfers are still sent to CIS countries, primarily Russia. This direction accounts for the bulk of the outflow of funds. In some months, transfers to Russia exceeded $40 million. Transfers to Kazakhstan, on the other hand, remain insignificant, at less than $1 million per month.
Among countries outside the CIS, Turkey leads the way, with Kyrgyz citizens regularly sending money there, while transfers to the US and South Korea are sporadic.
In just ten months, Kyrgyz citizens sent $322.3 million abroad. This is 16.2% less than in the same period last year, when the outflow amounted to $384.5 million. At the same time, Kyrgyz citizens sent $293 million to Russia, $2.6 million to Kazakhstan, $25.2 million to Turkey, $700,000 to the US, and $600,000 to South Korea.
Despite the increase in outflows, Kyrgyzstan as a whole receives more money from abroad than it sends. The inflow of remittances from citizens working abroad still significantly exceeds the outflow. Thus, taking into account the outflow, the country's net balance remained at $2.6 billion.
