The ceremony took place during the IV International Conference on PPP.
The project aims to develop a modern waste management system in Kyrgyzstan and transition to a closed-loop economy, where waste becomes a source of secondary raw materials rather than an object of disposal.
As part of its assistance, the EDB will finance:
The materials obtained will form the basis for the subsequent structuring and launch of the PPP project.
"The PPP project will use technologies that ensure the involvement of secondary resources in economic circulation. This creates a new source of income for the private partner. Unlike the linear economy, where waste is simply disposed of, the closed-loop model treats it as a valuable asset," said Svetlana Maslova, PPP Project Director at the EDB's Project Support Department.
It is noted that the implementation of the project will reduce the volume of waste sent to landfills and increase the use of secondary materials in Kyrgyzstan's industry, expanding the raw material base and reducing the burden on the environment.
‘The development of the feasibility study is part of the EDB's large-scale programme “Development of sustainable waste management and secondary material resources in Kyrgyzstan: infrastructure and transition to a circular economy”. A programme for the development of the secondary resources market will also be prepared within its framework,’ Maslova added.
We would like to add that a trilateral agreement between the EDB, the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund and the Ministry of Natural Resources was also signed at the conference.
